FARR 40 OD   from 1/1/2007

 

As you may be aware, the Farr 40 One-Design rule will allow a masthead spinnaker and longer spinnaker pole, as from 1^st January 2007.   The new maximum sizes are:

 

SLU/SLE 18.50 m  

SMW  10.50 m

SF - 10.50 m   

Spinnaker Pole  Length  - 5.20  m 

 

The 2006 IRC rating with this spinnaker/pole is 1.192*.

 

Please note:

 

1.                   Any boat applying for a Farr 40 OD rating in IRC or IRM will be rated for the new masthead spinnaker/long pole, by default. 

2.                   Any boat wishing to race IRC or IRM using only the smaller spinnaker/pole (as current) must clearly state this, and will not be rated as an OD.

3.                   Any boat in the Southern Hemisphere (June-May season) wishing to change to the new masthead spinnaker/pole after 1/1/07 will need to apply for any amended certificate.
