To apply for an IRC rating you need to complete the appropriate application form. However, before you do so, please read the notes that follow :

1. If the yacht is based outside GBR, please find your local Rule Authority on the IRC site www.ircrating.org

2. Please read the current IRC Rule (PDF) and definitions of measurements, before completing the form.

3. If you have a one-design, you may be able to use a simplified form - see One-Designs on forms page.

4. For all other boats: Please use the Excel application form. This link will take you to a page with more comprehensive guidance on completing the form, and a link to the form.

MAC USERS: The Excel application form is in Windows 2003 format. Unless you have 'Windows for Mac' installed, the form will not read or perform fully, and the information we require will be incomplete. Therefore if you are using a Mac, please contact us on 01590 677030 before downloading or completing a form, thank you.

When completing application forms:

• State all measurements in metres and kilogrammes
• Complete as much detail as you can. Missing information may cause a delay in processing your certificate.
