Firstly, some news on staff changes! This latter half of this year has seen two changes to the Rating Office team:

As some of you will be aware, John Warren, who was Director of Rating since 1993, has now retired. During his time as a measurer and Director of Rating John made a huge technical contribution to the world of yacht rating systems and measurement. He managed many changes in yacht rating systems; not the least of which is the highly successful migration from CHS to IR2000. He will be much missed and we all wish him all the best in retirement.

It was decided that the position of Director of Rating would be discontinued with John’s retirement and the new post of Rating Manager created. This post was filled by David Williams in September, and with John’s technical responsibilities now assigned to the Technical Manager, Mike Urwin, David’s focus will be on General Management and Commercial administration of the Lymington office.

The second change is that Nicola Coster, who handled the Sportsboat, IRM and many of the IRC ratings, left us in July after 6 years. Our priority was to find a replacement who could not only do the job, but would fit in and work well with the team in the office! Katherine Harker has just joined us and fits both those requirements, she will be dealing with Sportsboats, one-designs and sharing the IRC load with Jenny.

The preparation has already started for mailing the holders of 2002 IRC certificates inviting them to revalidate for 2003. The Yearbook has gone to press and the forms are being printed out, these will be sent out during the first week of January.

Anyone who did not have a rating this year, and is not on our mailing list, should contact us at info@rorcrating.com if they would like the Yearbook and application forms. The new Rules and application forms will also be available on our website from January.
