I must apologise that it's been so long since the last issue of Poolside,
but I simply haven't had time to put pen to paper! With the UK racing season in
full swing with Easter Regattas, Bell Lawrie Scottish Series, Round the Island
Race, Ford Cork Week, Skandia Life Cowes Week, Ramsgate Week, Rolex Commodores'
Cup to name but a small number of the events going on, we've been flat out!
Add to this a flurry of IRC revalidations and applications from Australia and
South Africa whose rating season starts right in the middle of it all in June!
RORC staff attended the Bell Lawrie Scottish Series and Ford Cork Week, both in
measurement and competitive capacities. Random measurement checks
were done at these regattas, and of course at the Rolex Commodores' Cup which
has just finished in Cowes and was run under IRC for the first time.
IRC fleets overseas continue to expand and we are pleased to hear that South
Africa have just had their 100th application. Meanwhile the
sailors in Kuwait are racing in sandstorms and temperatures of 47C!
IRC Ratings for specific designs: I see that searches are still
being made on the website for specific designs and their ratings. As noted on
the front page of the site, we do not publish this information, this is
deliberate to avoid the temptation for TCCs to be used for un-rated boats.
If you wish to know what particular designs rate, please e-mail us at info@rorcrating.com
letting us know why you want the information and we will try and help.
IRM:
The IRM High Performance class at Ford Cork Week was well supported and everyone
agreed that it was a great success with good racing. We hope that more
owners will be drawn into this exciting class. The IRM Class Association can be
found at http://www.irmclass.com
SWANS:
115 Swans of all sizes will be racing at the Nautor's Swan Cup in Sardinia next
month, the majority of which will be racing under the Nautor's Swan Rule (NSR)
which is administered by the Rating Office. The new Swan 45
Class, which has attracted a lot of interest, has it's secretariat here in the
Rating Office, contact Carole Abbott e-mail swan45class@rorcrating.com
We hope you're all having a successful and fun season's racing! As
always, if have any queries, comments or suggestions, please feel free to e-mail
me on jenny@rorcrating.com.
