From the Poolside - Rating Office news

13th March 2002

Welcome to the RORC Rating Office newsletter, thank you for subscribing! This will not be a regular issue, but we will let you know when there is news or anything that we think you should know about.

The title does not suggest we are sitting around sunbathing, but reflects the position of our office, which overlooks the Lymington Sea Water Baths!

Firstly, I must apologise to those of you who have had to subscribe twice due to the problems last week, which was down to very unlucky timing. If I had set up the newsletter two weeks earlier or later
it would have been avoided, but there was no way of knowing that! Thank you for your patience.

It's another chilly morning here in Lymington, but everyone is gearing up for upcoming racing, we have already issued IRC certificates to 1145 boats this year, over a third of the annual total!

I expect most of you have had a scan of the latest news on the site, but to recap the most recent:

IRC:

We have recently had several enquiries about the effect of removing standard accommodation (table, doors, floorboards etc.) from production boats. As we wish to discourage this we have drawn up guidelines on how this will be rated. See http://rorcrating.com/ir2000/irc/2002/interior.htm

We recently wrote some guidelines relating to IRC trial certificates, these will limited per boat per calendar year. For the full guidelines see http://rorcrating.com/ir2000/irc/trialcond.htm

For local measurers there is an updated measurement manual on line: http://rorcrating.com/ir2000/irc/ircmeas.htm

IRM:

The IRM Class Association has finalised the racing programme for 2002. For an details of the exciting season to come see http://rorcrating.com/ir2000/irm/2002/raceprog02.htm

SBR:

The new Sportsboat Rule text has just been published: http://rorcrating.com/sbr/sbrrule.htm

OTHER:

Rolex Commodores Cup: as you are no doubt aware the RCC is being run under IRC this year. This raises several issues and we have produced some advice for competitors hoping to compete, to help it all run smoothly! http://rorcrating.com/news/rcc2002guide.htm
